Your Path to the Past is a genealogy research business based near Newcastle, NSW, Australia. It is operated by Lyn Hancock to provide affordable professional family history research services.

Lyn's interest in family history was sparked years ago on discovering that her father’s middle name was “Goodsir”. She began her own family history research in earnest after retiring from work as an analyst programmer in 1998. She rapidly became intrigued - not only with the findings but also with the “thrill of the chase”.

Lyn has researched family history online and at archives in Australia and Great Britain, organised family reunions, assisted many others with researching their families and co-authored a family history book.

Lyn’s formal qualifications include a Bachelor of Science (James Cook University of North Queensland), a Graduate Diploma in Computing (Macquarie University) and a Diploma in Family Historical Studies (Society of Australian Genealogists).

Lyn aspires to professional genealogical standards and code of ethics. She is also a member of the Society of Australian Genealogists and Maitland and Beyond Family History Inc.

Lyn has three children and five grandsons. She lives at Ashtonfield, near Newcastle, NSW, Australia.
